On the occasion of nationwide celebration of the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and successful convening of the 19th CPC National Congress, the 11th China (Zhengzhou) International Garden Expo, longed for by hundreds of millions of people from all corners of the country, was opened in Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone.

The secretary of Provincial Party Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress Xie Fuzhan, the president of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Ye Dongsong, vice-minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People’s Republic of China Ni Hong, the member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, party secretary of Zhengzhou Ma Yi, the member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, secretary general of Provincial Party committee Mu Weimin, vice-director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress Zhao Jiancai and vice-governor Xu Guang attended the opening ceremony.

On September 29, at about 9:20 a.m. Xie Fuzhan, Ma Yi and Ni Hong jointly started the opening device and Ni Hong, Ma Yi and Xu Guangzhi made speeches.

The general secretary Xi Jinping pointed that to meet people’s desire for a happy life is our mission. Ecological well-being campaign and adherence to cultural confidence constitute key parts of the new concepts, new ideas and new strategies of the Party Central Committee for managing state affairs. Garden, as an organic combination of cultural and natural landscape as well as which of traditional culture and ecological well-being, reflects the happy homeland and good life people yearn for, and garden construction increasingly plays an important role in leading the urban development.

Since the establishment of China International Garden Expo, over the 20 years, it has been an important platform for inheritance and development of garden technology, promotion of green development and carrying forward our excellent culture. Taking the occasion of Zhengzhou holding the 11th Garden Expo, Henan pursues the campaign of ecological well-being in an integrated way and actively speeds up the construction of garden city while doing a good job of garden expo with the joint efforts of the province and the city.

At present, there have been 46 nationally designated garden cities, counties and towns; the construction of ecologically-livable city further becomes one of the core ideas of the managers for urban planning and construction at all levels, and the green development effect of Garden Expo Park is being increasingly expanded in the central plains.

This year’s garden expo, themed “lead green development and inherit Chinese civilization” and characterized by “Public Expo, Culture Expo, Sponge Expo and Smartness Expo”, is co-hosted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of People’s Republic of China and the People’ s government of Henan Province. The park covers an area of 119ha and has 94 expo parks including 74 domestic cities (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan districts), 18 foreign cities and 2 parks participated by international landscape architects in construction, which intensively display the technologies of landscape garden design at home and abroad with a purpose to play the regional advantages of Zhengzhou as national comprehensive transportation hub based on the profound historical and cultural deposits of central plains, building a platform of communication for full integration of regional culture, international culture and garden culture and putting up a bridge of shared resources, mutual cooperation and common development for all participated parties. Henan will hold the China International Garden Expo in a scientific, distinguished, wonderful and impressed way.

The leaders of Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone Zhang Yanming, Ma Jian, Zhang Chunyang, Chang Jihong, Cai Hong and Zheng Fulin, etc. attended the opening ceremony.
