A new intercontinental air passenger route linking Zhengzhou with Milan will be launched at the end of October, 2023, according to a news briefing held by Juneyao Air and Henan Airport Group in Zhengzhou, the capital city of Central China's Henan province, on August 8. The route is scheduled to see 2 Boeing 787-9 flights per week (every Monday and Friday).

So far, Zhengzhou airport has launched 2 intercontinental air passenger routes, linking Zhengzhou with Helsinki and Sydney and operated by Juneyao Air and Tianjin Airlines, respectively. The Zhengzhou-Milan route shows that Juneyao Air helps Zhengzhou develop into China's second intercontinental aviation hub following Shanghai. It will become Henan's first regular passenger route to South Europe.

In recent years, Henan Airport Group has been deeply integrating into the Air Silk Road construction and pushing the high-quality development of Zhengzhou international aviation hub. Zhengzhou airport handled 29.13 million passengers in 2019, ranking 12th in China, and dealt with 705 thousand tons of cargo in 2021, ranking 6th nationwide.

Zhengzhou airport has launched 12 regular international air passenger routes connecting 9 countries and regions, including Helsinki, Sydney, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, Phnom Penh, Nha Trang, Phuket, Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR.

In the future, Henan Airport Group will improve comprehensive cooperation with Milan in air passenger and cargo freight, and cooperate with Juneyao Air to expand Zhengzhou intercontinental air passenger route network by launching more intercontinental air passenger routes to New York, Athens, etc. (Chinese source: Henan Business Daily Reporter: Wang Fangxian Translator: Zhan Hanqing & Yang Jiaxin proofreader: Li Wenjing)
