TIR transport cargo value in Henan up3.8 times in 2024
At 14:00 on January 23, 8 TIR trucks, carrying 80 tons of electromechanical products valued at 6.804 million yuan, departed from the TIR International Road Transport Consolidation Center in Zhengzhou of Central China's Henan province, under the supervision of Zhengzhou Customs. The shipment will cross the Caspian Sea on its way to Azerbaijan, marking the first TIR trip across the Caspian Sea from Henan in 2025.
Zhao Mingfei, the business manager of Zhengzhou Hongyi Transportation Co., Ltd.,the logistics company handling TIR operations in Henan,has witnessed the development of TIR in the province. "Last year, we established regular servicesfor the China-Russia and China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan international road freightroutes, and launched new routes to Azerbaijan, Georgia, and other countries. We were also honored to participate in the launchceremony of the China-Europe direct express routeacross the Caspian Sea.Thanks toTIR, our trade networkhas expanded, and our freight capacity has strengthened."
Last year, Zhengzhou established China'sthird TIR International Road Transport Consolidation Center certified by IRU (International Road Transport Union), and the first in Central China. It also became the first TIR certification center outside of Beijing, attracting more and more international road freight vehicles to Zhengzhou for cargo assembly, significantly boosting the province's foreign trade and corridor economy.
As of now, Zhengzhou has launched 19 international road freight routes to 10 countries, including Russia, Laos, and Azerbaijan, forming a three-dimensional transportation network with routes heading north, south, and west.The development of international road transport in the city has entered a new phase driven by the combined forces of TIR (UN's International Road Transport Convention) and GMS (Greater Mekong Subregion).
Last year, Zhengzhou Customs oversaw 541 international road transport vehicles with a total cargo value of 850 million yuan, marking year-on-yearincreases of 2.7 times and 4.9 times, respectively. Among them, 315 were TIRvehicles,with a cargo value of 320 million yuan, reflectingyear-on-year growthof 1.9 times and 3.8 times, respectively. Zhengzhou ranks among the top in the country for TIR cargo capacity.
