Henan's Jan–April economy: solid progress, stronger momentum

Henan's market remained basically stable over the past 4 months, with its economy showing solid progress and a clear shift towards new drivers and stronger momentum, according to the local statistics bureau on May 20.

Foreign trade kept improving. During the January-April period, Henan's foreign trade expanded 25.0 percent year-on-year to 345.07 billion yuan, surpassing 300 billion yuan for the first time compared with historical records. Ties with emerging markets grew closer. During the period, Henan's trade with ASEAN countries jumped 29.7 percent to 45.71 billion yuan. Besides, its trade with Latin American and African countries rose 12.1 percent and 35.0 percent to 37.34 billion yuan and 14.76 billion yuan respectively, while trade with Belt and Road and RCEP countries surged 15.3 percent and 14.0 percent to 153.06 billion yuan and 94.6 billion yuan.
